The physicist Dr Monika Ziegler was born in Freiberg/Saxony in 1947 and is a “lane-connector”, for today she works as a cultural manager and journalist. She is chairperson of KulturVision e.V. as well as project manager of “anders wachsen”. She studied metallurgy and physics, did her doctorate in solid state physics, worked in research, changed to physics teacher because of the family (4 children). At the same time, she did an evening course to become an editor.

What drives you, Monika?

I want to bring together reason and intuition and science and art. As a natural scientist, I stand for the importance of facts and see art and culture as an essential complement for understanding the world and its future.
