Melina Gold, a versatile artist from Munich, works hidden behind lively streets and historic buildings, in a place that breathes creativity and inspiration – the International Munich Art Lab (IMAL). In this workshop, Melina blurs the lines between psychology, biology, and philosophy in her works. Painting, drawing, sculpture, photography – she utilizes a broad spectrum of media to express her multifaceted ideas.
A Workshop Full of Life
The working environment of the IMAL is a reflection of art – unconventional, loving, and permeated with a warm atmosphere. In this workshop, which Melina shares with 24 other artists, there’s a spirit of family and freedom. Despite the chaos, everyone finds their place to work independently and self-determinedly, whether alone or in a group. This environment not only promotes physical and mental health but also a deep sense of belonging and mutual respect.
A Mission That Moves
Melina’s artistic drive is rooted in the deep conviction that art has the power to move people to reflect. It’s important to her that viewers find their emotions in her artworks and confront them. Melina also delves into the Kafkaesque to explore the complexity of human existence and the often surreal facets of our being. Her art invites us to pause, look closer, and constantly seek new discoveries. “A long moment of seeing is my goal,” she emphasizes, aiming to create art that is not fleeting but deeply touches and stimulates viewers to think and feel beyond what is immediately perceived.
Challenges Along the Way
Melina sees her greatest challenge today in decision-making and committing to a single theme – choosing between her many interests and passions and consciously deciding which path to take. The search for self-awareness and making conscious decisions are central aspects that influence both her art and her personal development.
Melina’s art is an invitation to see the world with different eyes – more sensitively, reflectively, deeper. In the chaotic harmony of her workshop at the IMAL, she creates works that not only touch the soul but also provoke thought. Melina remains true to her mission: to create art that moves and invites prolonged engagement.
