Birth, life and death, shapes and sounds in colors.Who is Christiane Pacyna-Friese?

Dr. Christiane Pacyna-Friese (cpf) was born in 1953. She studied physics in Bonn and received her doctorate in foundry sciences in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. Today she works as a consultant for foundries and logistics companies as well as a database expert. From 2006 to 2009 she studied fine arts. She has been involved with painting since 1985 and her works have been shown in various exhibitions in Dortmund, Neckarsulm, Diepholz, Liverpool, Istanbul and other cities.

Since 2014, the conceptual art physicist has been working on the development of a musical number machine “numbers(e)motion”.

This is a self-developed computer program that uses three billion prime numbers and a synthesizer to display animated graphical music sequences. Christiane Pacyna-Friese extends the tradition of fractal images in the interface between physics and art by adding individual input.

Event data such as birth, death, events determine the process: numbers become colours, shapes, sounds!

These unique and individual performances combine to musical scores of family, themes and stories of life.
