Nina is a physics student at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and works as a freelance journalist.

Before she moved to Munich for her master’s degree in autumn 2018, she studied at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg. Nina is dedicated to science journalism and has already gained experience at the Physik Journal and the press office of the Physics Joint Quantum Institute.

When she is not studying or writing journalistic texts, Nina likes to spend time at events or devotes herself to creative projects. Thank goodness! Because she is the new editor-in-chief of the section “Research and Curiosities” in our blog. Hurray!

What drives you, Nina?

When I tell people that I’m studying physics, the most common reaction is: “I couldn’t do that at school!”

Many people cannot do anything with natural sciences because they are too complicated for them.

It’s a pity, I think -and I want to change that! Science makes it possible to understand our world and to shape it. This fascinates me and I want to pass on my enthusiasm! As editor-in-chief of the section “Research and Curiosities”, I will communicate science in a way that is generally understandable.

What is your utopia?

I would like to see a society in which the simple transfer of knowledge is a matter of course: research should not be carried out in a quiet chamber, but should reach the general public. Access should be possible for everyone.

I want to realize my utopia here. I am happy to be part of the utopian team.
